Battle of Lexington and Concord
The battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the American Revolutionary War. The battle took place on April, 1775. In Massachusetts. Around 700 British soldiers commanded by lieutenant colonel Francis Smith were sent to destroy military supplies hidden in Massachusetts by American militia.
Lucky for the Patriots they have moved their supplies. As soon as the sun rose gunshots were fired. Militia fell back and the regulars proceeded on to Concord where they looked for the supplies. At the North Bridge in Concord, about 500 militiamen defeated three companies of the Kings troops. Then the regulars (the British troops) retreated from the minutemen after a picked battle in open territory.
More militiamen arrived soon after and they put heavy damage on the regulars as they marched back to Boston.
